Cruise-A-Thong, Pagosa’s own little Oh-limp-ix – Golf Pix Tuesday

The 7th Annual Cruise-A-Thong was a fantastic success this year drawing triathlon athletes from around the Four Corners Area and as far away as Denver. Over the years this fun event has grown to the point it is now a serious visitor draw for Pagosa Springs. It proves, without a doubt,  just simple fun can be good for this town.

Team New Mexico was 30+ and took up a large chunk of the parking area.

Team Green from Denver had a total of ten in town and promised to have double that next year. Thank You.

Team MNC (New Mexico & Colorado) from spots near the Four Corners !

Cha-ching!

The best half of Team River Rats.

County Commisioner Alert! Keeping in touch with the real people.

Winner of the Bloody Mary competition. Credits and names pending.

Realize, the Bloody Mary drinkin’ starts at 9:00AM and the race at 11:00, or so! Smiles required.

Meanwhile, crews check all vital equipment.

Matt deGraaf delivered the athletes’ address saying, in part, “We gather here today in celebration of mediocrity, overachirvement has no place here, we are one for all and all for one, you are not special. We are not here to mourn the disenfranchised, we are not here to pity the fool. We are here to celebrate and uphold all that is average.”

Team New Mexico pulled a very suave and overtly strategic move taking an unauthorized rest break just one K into the wheeled leg. Everyone else had to find a way through the party! Damn those shrude New Mexicans.

After that bit of gamesmanship nobody seemed to give a good #&%^ and the race continued across the hot spring land mass on a grueling off road section.

Racers continued on the beautiful and relatively unused paved wetlands walk way behind Town Hall and the Community Center.

The Roller Derby ladies managed the rest stop at Town Hall providing refreshments and motivation.

The Flip Flop Walk was the second leg of the triathlon from Town Park to the River Center Park with flotation in hand.

The float down the San Juan was pure pleasure on this hot day and a lot of fun.

Lady, I think you are being stalked!!!

Some did the river run seemingly asleep. Maybe the term should be “passed out.” I wonder if he’s made it to Navajo Lake yet?

After the river run the party continued in Town Park with live music and more of everthing.

Another grand event guys, looking forward to the 8th!
