Bralee’s Excellent Elk Hunt

Pagosa’s young people are having a grand time this big game hunting season. Going into the forest with family is a wonderful experience few have in this modern world. Bralee Inman went on this adventure with grandpa, Justin Burton. The first step is riding to the high country.

Once higher in the mountains the air cools and excitement and  expectation fills the environment, there are elk just beyond sight.

Camping at elevation means campfires, cooking out and a rough night’s sleep the cowboy way.

 

Bralee says it was a long day on the stand and late afternoon a herd came into view. She was patient, silent and a good shot taking the bull at 44 yards.

 Bralee and Justin had an experience that will never be forgotten. After an interview she was bouncing on her toes and repeating, “I can’t wait “till  next time!”
