Durango Cowboy Poetry Parade Saturday
Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering Parade on Saturday October 5 – 8
Just a reminder that it is time for the Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering and the Cowboy Parade. Beginning October 5th through the 8th, it may seem like Durango has taken a step back in time to what the town was like “back in the day.” From the historic Strater Hotel to Cerda 7 and Lone Spur Cafe, expect to experience a bit of the Old West as cowboys, cowgirls and ladies and gentlemen in period costumes stroll the streets. Parade day Saturday, October 7th will find Main Street filled with horses, wagons, carriages, stagecoaches, a llama or two, and Blizzard the 2300 lb. Texas longhorn. And don’t forget—a hearty Chuckwagon Breakfast benefiting the Gathering and its youth programs starts at 7:00 until 11:00 a.m. in the parking lot at 5th and Main. After the Gathering ends on Sunday, another big horse related event begins. The Best Horse Summit headquartered at the Strater Hotel starts October 8th through 10th and is dedicated to advancing ideas to improve horse-human connections. There will be morning academic sessions & afternoon arena presentations. For more information, check it out.
Please put Saturday, October 7th on your calendar. Plan to come to town to show your support for Durango’s western heritage and to cheer on the participants in our colorful parade.
