Calling all Parents, Grandparents and their kids!

The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad again returns this popular children’s train to the schedule in 2010 with a total of eight different Cinder Bear Train trips. The kids’ oriented train ride will operate weekly starting on Thursday, June 24th and will run every Thursday. The season’s final Cinder Bear Express will run on Thursday, August 26th, 2012.

This one’s for the kids (of all ages, of course). It’s a ride on the C&TSRR’s historic steam train designed to appeal to the youngest rail fans – or rail fans-to-be. Master of the event is Cinder Bear himself, who will be on hand to greet all passengers and take them on adventures including storytelling, games, songs and more!
The three-hour long funfest is highlighted by the train ride up the mountain to Cumbres Station at the top of the pass. A picnic lunch designed for kids by the Narrow Gauge Caterers Inc. is served and each passenger gets a special Cinder Bear souvenir. The train ride itself is a unique thrill for the kids – and their accompanying adults. It is tailored both in length and style to attract and keep the attention of the youngsters.
Kids still hear the timeless story of “The Little Engine That Could.” Our steam locomotive’s pull up the Cumbres grade could have been the stretch of track about which that story was written (“I think I can, I think I can…”). It’s the perfect trip for an intergenerational sharing of the universal joy of a jaunt on a steam train.
