From the author of ‘Sylvia’ comes the Pulitzer Prize nominated play ‘Love Letters’, the perfect presentation for the month of February, when valentines pass through the hands of young and old, and thoughts turn to matters of the heart. The play centers on just two characters – Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepeace Ladd III. Using the epistolary form sometimes found in novels, the two sit side by side and read the notes, letters, and cards – in which, for over 50 years, they discuss the hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, victories and defeats that have passed between them throughout their separated lives. The letters, both sweet and bittersweet, span two lifetimes, and are full of innocent banter, hilarious exchanges, bittersweet recollections, longing for kisses, and destinies entwined.
