Good News from Medical Center Foundation
While the town bemoans the absence of snow, prepares for the holiday, bakes and revels, PSMC staff is working. No candy cane mocha lattes for us.
We are launching The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.
Under the direction and leadership of our new CEO, Dr. Rhonda Webb, management is making lists, checking them twice determining space, scope, budget and personnel. In addition to the clinical demands of this planning, she and the Foundation Advisory Board are planning a spectacular summer event (Save the 3rd Tuesday in June) in support of the Center.
We are welcoming Dr. Bill Jordan, an experienced medical oncologist, to our staff. He has been volunteering his time preparing for the Center this past 6 months and is wrapping up his business in Texas to make is second home here permanent in January. Christina Reeves, our current Director of Pharmacy, will manage the program. Christina’s family is here but she isn’t. She is in Texas training at Dr. Jordan’s Fort Worth Center for Cancer where he has practiced since 2000. Kelly Cesary, ANP-C, will be Dr. Jordan’s nurse practitioner. She is preparing to move here this Christmas.
The Center will involve every PSMC department, every heart and mind. Our Chief of Staff, Dr. Ralph Battels and our EMS Medical Director, Dr. Michelle Flemmings usually host an incredible holiday party. This year they are graciously donating one of our infusion chairs with the money they usually spend on the party.
The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders will open 1st quarter, 2018. Then we can toast our Center with mocha lattes.
Wishing you a safe and joyous holiday season,
