Pagosa Springs’ Recreation News
Volleyball Forms Available at Elementary, Middle School
Youth volleyball registrations for children ages 9-12 are available at the elementary and middle schools through October 5.
Registrations are also available at the recreation office in Town Hall, and are available for download through the recreation department link at
www.townofpagosasprings.com. Parents are reminded that all registrations should be submitted to the recreation office in Town Hall.
Cost is $30 per player and $15 for each additional child in the same, immediate family who participates. The season is tentatively scheduled to begin in mid-October and will run through late November.
Age divisions will be 9-10 and 11-12. Coaches, sponsors and officials for both divisions are needed and appreciated. The 9-10 season will consist of clinic-style sessions which will include drills, an introduction to game rules and scrimmages.
The 11-12 season will consist of at least two weeks of practice and a competitive game schedule. All sessions are tentatively scheduled to take place during the week (evenings) at the Ross Aragon Community Center.

Through Oct. 31, children in grades K-4 can submit entries in the poster contest, while children in grades 5-8 can get involved by entering the essay contest.
The theme for entries in the poster contest (grades K-4) is, naturally, “Pick-up Pagosa Country.” Entries should focus on the impacts of litter and/or recycling on our community and should be submitted according to the following general guidelines:
• All entries should be submitted on 8.5”x11” paper
• Any art supplies can be used
• Neatness, legibility and creativity are essential
• Artwork must be original and hand-drawn
• Include student’s name, grade and phone number on the back of entry
The theme for entries in the essay contest (grades 5-8) is also “Pick-up Pagosa Country.” Entries should explain why local litter prevention and/or recycling efforts are important and should follow these guidelines:
• All entries must be legibly hand-written on 8.5”X11” paper
• Entries are limited to a maximum of 250 words
• Include student’s name, grade and phone number with entry
Submissions can be dropped off at the front desk in Town Hall until 5 p.m. Oct. 28. Submissions can also be mailed to: Pick-up Pagosa Country Contest, Town Hall, P.O. Box 1859, Pagosa Springs, CO 81147. Submissions will not be returned. Prizes will be awarded for first-, second- and third-place entries in each grade.
Children who have been placed on a waiting list will be added to teams if and when spots become available in their respective age divisions.
