Elk and Deer Herds in southern Pagosa Country

Deer have been crossing the roads and road kills are on the rise along with reports of huge elk herds along the southern flanks  of the Pagosa area.  The elk are loving  early growth in pastures and are waiting for a first heat wave to move on up the mountains. Be careful on the highways and respect wildlife.
