PostSecret: The Show at Fort Lewis
DURANGO, Colo. – Funny, poignant, inspiring – PostSecret: The Show will be presented by the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College and New Face Productions Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, 7:30 p.m.
PostSecret is an internationally-recognized public art project where people confess their secrets on homemade postcards – anonymously. PostSecret: The Show is the live production of the online effort created and curated by Frank Warren. All roles in the live show are performed by TJ Dawe, Maria Glanz and Kerry Ipema.
From its modest beginnings in Washington, D.C. in 2005, PostSecret has inspired more than one million postcard submissions, accumulated 1.5 million Facebook followers, and won numerous Webby awards. It is a featured exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and The Smithsonian in Washington D.C., plus six PostSecret books have climbed the New York Times best-seller list.
This stage adaptation is a collaboration between PostSecret creator Frank Warren and Canadian theatre veterans, TJ Dawe, Kahlil Ashanti and Justin Sudds. The show is an immersive, poignant journey through the humor and humanity of the personal stories we keep to ourselves, and on rare occasions, share with others. All of the stories featured in the show are true.
The Show is a breakthrough in audience-sourced storytelling, and reaches beyond the confines of the stage, reminding audiences that secrets can be both walls and bridges.
Projected images and videos support the actors and a guitarist, as the audience is guided through crowd-sourced narratives revealing the stories behind the secrets. The show uncovers the hopeful, shocking, painful and even sexual secrets that brought hundreds of millions to the PostSecret online blog. And it continually presses the life-affirming message: “You are not alone.” PostSecret’s website (www.postsecret.com) has become one of the internet’s most popular sites with more than one-half-billion visits.
As noted by Vancouver Presents, “…what does make PostSecret: The Show work is in the communal nature of a show that is strangely uplifting, where as a group we bear witness to both the collective and individual responses to the secrets and stories presented. One can’t help but leave feeling some hope for humanity when we can laugh at the fart secrets but, more importantly, we can also find a common emotional response to the more profound.”

The Community Concert Hall is a not-for-profit, multi-use performance venue located on the campus of Fort Lewis College. Its ability to bring a diverse spectrum of shows to Southwest Colorado is made possible through a partnership with the college, a state-supported, independent institution of higher education, and through financial and in-kind contributions from generous members of the community.
