Summer 2010 Update from the Town Tourism Committee
Dear Residents and Local Business Owners:

Thank you once again for welcoming our tourists to Pagosa Springs during the last few months.  As the summer season begins to wind down, we wanted to provide an update on how 2010 tourism is faring, according to lodger tax and fulfillment request data.  As a quick update, 2009 lodger tax collections ended at 9.2% above 2008.  So far, through June 2010, lodger tax collections are up 7.6% over 2009.  With fulfillment requests tracking 72.3% above 2009, we continue to reach more and more potential tourists. 

In an effort to help businesses understand the various marketing and advertising options available to reach tourists in Pagosa Springs, please review the following new Tourism Business Resources & Information section on the Town’s website (www.townofpagosasprings.com – located under Board & Commissions >>Town Tourism Committee), with the following information currently available:

Are you interested in Tourism in Pagosa Springs?  Would you like to get involved with the Town Tourism Committee?  The Town Tourism Committee currently has 14 subcommittees, with participation open to the public, providing focus on a variety of different areas that impact tourism.  We’re an extremely active Committee, with over 60 public meetings held in 2010 thus far.  Please join us; we’d love your input!  Visit the Town website for an overview of Town Tourism Committee Subcommittees to identify the areas in which you are interested in contributing. 

Our monthly Town Tourism Committee meeting is held on the third Tuesday of the month at 4pm at the Ross Aragón Community Center.  However, please note, that the August meeting will be held on August 24^th at 4pm.  These meetings are open to the public and provide an overview of the Town Tourism Committee’s efforts and focus.   We hope to see you soon!
