The Community Garden is Growing with New Folks and Kids

The folks at the Community garden are blessed this summer with children from Tessie Garcia’s Classes.  The group of children are part of the Archuleta County Education
Center’s Lil’ Chef group  and also, for the summer, the Hands-On Arts Camp headed by Tessie and Lisa Brown. The plants are from the Ignacio School. They have a green house so Tessie was able to get plants from them.

Tessie’s mom, Dolores Gurule, helps with the dirty work.

They made a nice bed and planted it.

The other gardeners are working soil and adding new compost. The white garden sheeting protects young  seedlings from surprise frost.

Keith Jones has enough garlic and onions for a busy kitchen all year.

These are my taters and french fries next winter.

This one shows the progression from beginning to a bed full of life.

The Community Garden is the best it has ever been with new folks and the charm of kids digging and growing.
