Could you use a little help in your life — maybe an afternoon of yard work or math tutoring for your child — but can’t really afford to pay someone for it? Do you also have something to offer, perhaps gardening know-how or plumbing expertise?

Hold on to your hard-earned cash and consider joining our community time bank, Hour Exchange Pagosa

It’s a great way to “pay” for services without spending a dime, while discovering your own otherwise untapped resources and getting to know your neighbors. After all, just because money is tight doesn’t mean we lack economic value — and by eliminating the cash transaction, we’re really just getting back to the roots of a civilized economy.

Here’s how it works: One hour you spend performing a service for someone earns you one time credit.  You then spend the time credit you earned on services of your choice.  For example, you could do some handy work and fix a plumbing issue or teach someone how to paint and use the hour time credit you received to get a massage.

Signing up is simple: Just go to www.PagosaTimeBank.com, then click on Join Us and fill out the form including some services you would be willing to offer.

Time banking is a simple yet powerful way to weather tough times while strengthening our local economy.
And everyone has something valuable to offer.

Upon becoming a member, you’ll need to attend an Orientation.  Here you’ll learn how to use the software and meet others you may be exchanging with in the future. You’ll receive two hours for attending Orientation, so now you’re ready to find a service you’d like to receive!  With your new account we’ll show you how to find what’s being offered as well as how to list your own needs and services, record transactions, and log your time credits.

Although it is true that some skills are perceived as having a higher value in our ‘cash world’, Time Banking recognizes that everyone’s time is equal no matter what job they perform.  This mentality builds healthier relationships based on mutual respect and the understanding that to build a strong, generous community we need everyone’s contributions equally.  This is how we transform the way we get our needs met and contribute to our world.

So, What Can You Do?
What Do You Need?
