X-Country Ski Alberta Lake Trail Now
It has been a challenging year for cross country skiers. With no real snow across the area there is no grooming or skiing. Dina Pesenson from the South West Nordic Ski Club sent this missive to the club members about skiing Alberta Lake Trail at Wolf Creek Ski Area.
We checked out Alberta Park xc ski trails at Wolf Creek this weekend and happy to report that they made for great skiing although this is the least snow coverage I’ve seen at Wolf Creek this time of year. If you want to see some photos showing the gentle descent and climb out of Alberta Park check them out in our pinned post here: https://www.facebook.com/swnordicskiclub/
Parking in the employee/xc ski trails parking lot (ask attendant as you drive in if you dont know which one that is) and heading down the groomed service road to Alberta Park is nice and gentle with good coverage. The groomed loop below Alberta lift is only about 3k but is very nice skiing. The road to reservoir is groomed as well but is way too spotty and sun exposed for our liking so we only went down part way before turning around on that one.
Hope they keep grooming and more snow comes soon! As always, nothing like skiing all morning and soaking in the springs all afternoon!
Next Pagosa event is Sun Jan 7th skiathlon (7k/7k or ~3k/3k for kids)!
